Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo have been through a lot together, from shared humble beginnings to becoming one of country music’s most beloved couples and then calling it quits after nearly 10 years of marriage in 2026.
The singer and Dumb Blonde host first crossed paths when he was still pursuing a hip-hop career, and she was making her living as a sex worker. Both have been open about struggling with substance abuse and spending time in and out of jail, as well as how they helped each other heal and build healthier, more prosperous lives together. Through their romance, Bunnie also became a mom to Jelly’s daughter from a past relationship, Bailee — over whom the podcaster now shares primary custody with the musician — and a stepmom to his son, Noah.
Fast forward a few years, and Bunnie was by Jelly’s side as he switched over to country music and found breakout success with 2022 singles “Son of a Sinner” and “Need a Favor.” She was also there cheering him on from the audience as he gave his emotional new artist of the year acceptance speech at the 2023 CMA Awards, meanwhile Jelly was always in Bunnie’s corner as she grew her brand, shut down her OnlyFans account in 2023 and expanded her audience through the success of Dumb Blonde and her social media profiles.
With all of that history behind them, it came as a big surprise to fans this week when news broke that the artist had filed for divorce from Bunnie in May 2026, citing “irreconcilable differences” in court documents obtained by Billboard.
So, as people adjust to a world where Jelly and Bunnie are no longer together, keep reading to see a timeline of their relationship below.

2015: First meeting
Jelly met Bunnie in 2015, with the latter watching the former perform at Sin City’s Country Saloon in Las Vegas. Seven years later in an interview with Taste of Country Nights, the Grammy winner recalled how the pair “hit it off” quickly.
“She said she fell in love with the saddest eyes in the room,” Jelly said, noting that Bunnie had been in an abusive relationship at the time, but ended it soon after. “I’m not going to act like I shot my shot. She kind of shot hers. We had mutual friends. She said, ‘Yo. Just plug me in with Jelly.’ And I hit her on some other s–t. I was like, ‘Yo. I’m going to be coming out to shoot some content and video stuff. She was like, ‘Yeah! C’mon!’ I was like, ‘Cool, well I’m living in my van, so I’ll leave now.’”
Later, in her 2026 memoir Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, Bunnie described how Jelly wanted to take things slow after their friendship evolved into something more. “He was so shy!” she recalled of the first time she tried to initiate sex with Jelly, who instead wanted to talk about their long-term goals. “By seven a.m., we’d landed on the same page and sobered up,” she wrote. “‘Pinky promise we’re going to make these dreams come true?’ he asked, holding out his little finger. I hooked mine around his. ‘Pinky promise,’ I said.”

August 2016: Wedding bells
The couple tied the knot at a small chapel in Las Vegas — the same city where their romance first began — in August 2016.
As time went on, Bunnie would blend in as a crucial part of Jelly’s family — with the musician later crediting her with helping him get custody of his daughter, Bailee, and taking in his son, Noah, like one of her own.

2018: A brief split
Jelly and Bunnie have been open about the fact that they briefly split up in 2018, as well as the fact that their marriage struggled in its early years due to Jelly’s infidelity.
In her 2026 memoir, Bunnie detailed how she caught Jelly having a 10-month affair with one of his exes, whom the influencer confronted over the phone. “She told me about how he got a house for them to live in and he wanted her to stay at home and take care of Bailee,” Bunnie recalled in the book. “And out of everything, that’s what made me sick. It wasn’t about him f–king this broad — it was about emotionally cheating and then wanting her to play mommy to a little girl I’d fallen in love with.”
“One of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife,” Jelly said in an October 2025 appearance on the podcast Human School. “Because it was the first time that I was like, ‘I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman.’ It was just such a… just really, really, really blew me back.”
Through lots of hard conversations and work, Bunnie and Jelly found their way back to a happier place together — but it wasn’t easy. “I’m not going to pretend that we just went back to normal,” she wrote in her memoir. “It would take years for me to put the affair aside. It would take years to actually feel like this man loved me — that I wasn’t disposable.”

June 2023: Jelly calls Bunnie a “beacon of change”
In his 2023 Billboard cover story, Jelly referred to Bunnie as a “beacon of change” in his life. “You’re talking about a woman that came in and took a child that was soon to be born and a child that [we were] soon to have full custody of,” he also said at the time. “I would have never got custody of my daughter without her. I wouldn’t have had the stability or the money.”

August 2023: Vow renewal
Seven years after tying the knot, Jelly and Bunnie returned to the site of their nuptials and renewed their vows.
“Everybody says to do it in 10 years, but we’ve heard about the seven-year itch,” the musician told Audacy’s Superstar Power Hour around that time. “So we’re like, let’s get ahead of this thing. Let’s double down on year seven.”

June 2024: Couple shares IVF journey
Jelly first revealed that he and his wife were seeking to grow their family by welcoming children via IVF on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast in June 2024. “My wife and I are talking about having a baby, and it really made me realize that at almost 40, I was like, it means I got to live to at least 60. I got to see this kid into college,” he said at the time.
Shortly afterward, Bunnie wrote on Instagram: “Papa Bear dropped a surprise on this pod today. We had planned on doing this privately, but decided our IVF journey needed to be shared because we’ve always been so open.”
Over time, the podcaster would continue sharing updates with fans about her IVF treatments and the toll they took on her body. Later, in her 2026 memoir, Bunnie revealed that she and Jelly had already chosen a surrogate.
“J and I have a surrogate, the sweetest woman ever, and soon I’ll be starting my IVF stims,” she wrote. “With how much IVF has advanced over the years, and with the help of the most unselfish woman willing to carry twins for us, we’ll be able to make our baby dreams come true.”
