“We back, baby!” Those were the words Tyler Hubbard shouted to the packed crowd at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium Thursday night (June 4), when Florida Georgia Line thrilled the audience during the first night of CMA Fest with a surprise performance.

Following Ella Langley’s performance, revered ring announcer Michael Buffer announced the duo’s list of accomplishments, among them the RIAA Diamond-certified single “Cruise.” He then introduced Hubbard and Kelley, who were each positioned on opposite sides of the stadium. Fans went into a frenzy as the two began singing their hit “‘Round Here,” each making their way to a stage in the center of the stadium. Kelley and Hubbard hugged each other as they met at the center of the stage and continued with the song.

Then, Hubbard addressed the crowd, saying, “CMA Fest, it feels so good to be here with my brother. And listen, we got three things we want to say tonight. First of all, God is good. Second of all, life is short. And most importantly, your boys … we back, baby!”

Rumors had swirled of a potential FGL reunion during CMA Fest when the duo’s official Instagram account, which had been dormant since 2023, was suddenly changed. The account’s profile photo switched to “FGL LFG,” signaling the start of something fresh for the duo. A billboard in Nashville also shared a number fans could text. The message they received read, “Turns out, some things are just better together. Much more to come. FGL LFG.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time the duo has performed together this year. They previously joined forces during Country Radio Seminar in Nashville earlier this year to help honor Jason Aldean by performing Aldean’s song “You Make It Easy,” which FGL cowrote. That performance marked the duo’s first together in nearly four years.

FGL split in 2022 due to the duo’s differing views over how to balance FGL’s music with pursuing solo careers. Each ended up putting out solo projects. They began spending more time together recently, with Kelley posting a video from a hike he took with Hubbard in January. They were also spotted together at the CMA Awards last fall.

During the ACM Awards in May, Hubbard also noted that FGL was “toying around” with the idea of playing a few shows in 2027. Making the group’s reunion on such a huge platform as CMA Fest makes the notion of full-fledged FGL reunion shows an even deeper probability.
